Sitemaps just for google?

Does anyone setup sitemaps for google to crawl? I used them a few times, but have found that it doesn't help the pages get index any faster... Normally to get your pages indexed quickly, just work on getting some quality links to the site...

Anyways, thoughts?

I was thinking about making a sitemap (I never have) but I have never found a real need for one. I guess it would help a little but I figure that there are more important things I could be working on.

I always use sitemaps for my sites, from what I have personally experienced; it helps in getting each and every page indexed. Especially in case you are running a dynamic site or a forum.

I tried sitemaps on my blog, and it helped my pages get indexed a lot faster.

My indexing only took a couple of days...

Besides, i DID submit a sitemap to google and it indexed all my OLD blog posts and got rid of my original link!! Instead of http://Daily-Rambler.blogspot.com, it turned into http://daily-rambler.blogspot.com/indexmax=page8=Jibberish+=Somemore

And it was really annoying
