Default Is your site listed in DMOZ?

Is your site listed in DMOZ (the ODP)?

    You can check by either

    A. Searching.
    B. Going through the catagory you submitted it to.
    C. Checking your log files.
    D. Or by using Seotie

I've only just submitted my site but hopefully it will be included

If your site is listed then lucky you!

Submitted 8 months ago. Not accepted due to the editor's decision.
I had no choice but to accept the rejection.

My site is listed in DMOZ, but it took a year (2002). I tried once a year ago to update my listing, but no change. I'm going to quit while I'm ahead. I don't want the listing removed. I feel it helps with Google.

I also believe the DMOZ editors are simply listing their sites (and friends) then dropping out. They seem to change all of the time, and they are never looking for new editors in the "webmaster resources" section. I wonder why?

Dmoz accepted my site in a month - and I submitted it to the wrong category too (it was moved). Dmoz usually updates pretty fast - we changed domain names and it was updated the next day.

You do not want to get into Dmoz for the hits. You want to get in there for the search engines It's not something you should really worry about, if you get in you get in. You shouldn't sit back and 'wait'.

DMOZ is just another backlink. I don't think anyone uses it to find anything any more -- even in the old days of a much smaller web it was a clumsy way to find information. I've been listed in DMOZ for my main site since about 1996 -- I can't remember the last time I saw a referral from there in my logs, if ever.

By all means submit your site to DMOZ. Submit to all the free submission directories you can find (several forums have lists), providing that they are categorized/classified and deliver real live links. Think of them as free backlinks, nothing more.

I remember back in the day when I used to check everyday to see if any of my sites were listed in DMOZ - now I dont care anymore. I just submit the site once and forget about it. Pretty much a waste to do anything else.

    Default DMOZ status

I don't really have an opinion on DMOZ. I have submitted my photo gallery to them but they didn't list me.

Are you supposed to get a rejection letter if your site is not included?
